In the afternoon, we took a “topless” bus tour that gave us a little perspective on the city. We hit the City Bowl and Bo Kaap area where we hopped off the bus to grab lunch. We sampled the “Line Fish” aka Fish of the Day which was Cape Salmon, Calamari Steaks, baby Calamari tubes (the whole top of the head) and peri-peri a local chile sauce –spicy but smooth. The bus tour continued through the Company Gardens and District 6 before heading up to the base of Table Mountain. We continued around to the Atlantic side of the mountain and enjoyed breathtaking views of the sea and the mansions overlooking them.

The contrast between rich and poor is striking. The bus on the top is the one the locals use for tours. Not that they aren't allowed, more likely that they can't afford the $15 ticket. Everywhere we travel there are reminders that political freedom did not bring economic empowerment – at least not yet. The city is impressive in its efforts to create suitable living conditions for all. There are grassroots movements with locals creating marketable art from random articles and there are major building projects, both private and public, that employ large numbers of people. Most exciting for the Capetownians is the building of a new soccer stadium to host the World Cup. That's the foto with all of the cranes.

Dinner tonight was fascinating. We had Madagascar deep sea Lobster, Kudu, Wildebeast, Gemsbok and Impalla. Everything was delicious - didn't even taste remotely like chicken.
